Unwavering Support

This painting was very special to me. We drove down to Montana mid June when all the flooding was happening, arriving into Cooke City northeast of Yellowstone. Shortly after all the roads into Cooke City were closed with the exception of the route southwest to Cody, Wyoming. I painted this piece as a small study on location choosing this particular rock because of the sturdiness it represented. It reminded me of the Bible reading referring to Jesus as our rock and chief cornerstone… solid in the midst of storms.
